30 Posts In 30 Days – Day 4: The Why

This is Day 1 of the 30 Posts In 30 Days Challenge I set for myself to start writing online. This post was originally published on X.

Why do I want to start writing online?

Earlier this year a friend asked me if I could teach him how I build websites.

He wasn’t interested in my services. In fact, we have worked on projects together before.

No. He wanted to learn how to build it himself.

I’ve been working on web projects with clients for years now. And though I had my issues with client work in the beginning, over the years I’ve grown very fond of it.

Not only did I enjoy solving real problems for real people, but I also became really good at it.

However, I started craving some change for a while. But I didn’t know WHAT to change and HOW. Until my friend approached me and it finally clicked for me.

I want to teach people everything I know.

In a way, I was already doing that, by showing clients what I needed from them, when, and how. They knew working with me meant being just as involved as I was.

Throughout my career, I searched for information online to solve specific problems. I was never interested in somebody else solving them for me.

I wanted to learn how to do it myself.

Just like my friend.

I even paid for it occasionally, in the form of an online course (even though I’ve always been a hesitant buyer).

It took me a while to realize that writing is the perfect tool for teaching what I know. And what better place to do it than online?

I was a little hesitant at first but finally gave it a go.

And here I am, learning how to write online, in order to teach everything I know.
